University of Utah Gymnastics Schedule 2022-2023 Utah Gymnastics Schedule

Utah Gymnastics Schedule 2022-2023 Utah Gymnastics Schedule, With the national signing period underway. Dozens of high school gymnasts are set to sign national letters of intent to compete for their college teams in 2023. Some athletes will defer enrollment by a year. While others are international elites and will join their team in January 2023.

The University of Utah women’s gymnastics schedule for the 2022-2023 season was released earlier Thursday and it looks promising. OU will face some tough competition during the regular season including Big 12 rivals Iowa State, West Virginia, and No. 20 Arizona State.

Beam

Utah was one of the most dominant beam teams in the country last season. All six of its athletes return, and there’s no real reason to think they can’t keep it that way this year as well.

The vault looks to be pretty straightforward as well. Though we’ll have to wait and see how they replace the lost Yurchenko 1.5s from Alexia Burch and Cammy Hall. If they can rely on Jaedyn Rucker’s Y1.5 anchor, Grace McCallum’s Servente, Lucy Stanhope’s Y1.5, and Maile O’Keefe’s Y1.5 from last season. Utah should be able to put together an adequate scoring team again.

The floor rotation may be a bit trickier to figure out. But Utah does have a few first-years who should be viable options. Abby Brenner is known for her Yurchenko 1.5 on the vault and floor. While Makenna Smith has a front 2/1 from L10 that could be a useful addition to a first-choice four.

Floor

The Utah Red Rocks are looking to return to the top of the national rankings this season. With a pair of national champions Grace McCallum and Alexia Burch. As well as Olympic alternate Kara Eaker, the team has plenty of talent to make it happen again.

While the competition is going to be tough this year, it will also be exciting. The Utes will have a chance to win the Pac-12 title again this season. And have an NCAA championships berth at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, for the first time since 1995.

This team is also full of veteran leadership. As evidenced by the fact that three of their four All-Americans are seniors. Among those are All-Pac-12 floor exercise winner Natalie Wojcik, 2021 bars. And vault champion Sierra Brooks and former NCAA champ Gabby Wilson.

All-Around

The Utah gymnastics schedule for 2022-2023 features a mix of home meets. And road trips to compete in the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference (MRGC) as well as in Pac-12 competition. The Aggies will open the season with the Rio Tinto Best of Utah Meet at the Maverick Center in West Valley City.

The Utah gymnastics schedule for 2022-2023 will also feature several NCAA Regional Championships. Including the big one – the National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships. The top two teams, the top all-around competitors, and event specialists from each regional will advance to the nationals. Which are slated for April 13-15 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Utah gymnastics schedule may not be as exciting as some other sports. But the Red Rocks have been known to produce a few great performances in recent years. Such as their third-place showing at Nationals last year. The team’s 2023 schedule includes a few of the most exciting events in the sport. Including a few that are already scheduled to be broadcast on television.

Individual Events

The Utah gymnastics schedule for 2022-2023 is packed with opportunities for competition on the podium. The Red Rocks will compete against Power Five and Pac-12 rivals LSU, Georgia, Oklahoma, and UCLA. As well as a pair of meets against ESPN2 and the Pac-12 Network.

Returning to the team are a pair of 2020 Olympic silver medalists in Jordan Chiles and Margzetta Frazier. As well as All-Americans Emily Lee and Emma Malabuyo. Also back are six WCGA Scholastic All-Americans, including four sophomores and one freshman.

Denver enters the ’22-’23 season as a Western Athletic Conference member. After joining the conference in 2012. Denver qualified for NCAA regionals for the first time in a program record-breaking two consecutive seasons.

DU’s senior Nina McGee wrapped up one of the most decorated careers in program history by winning the floor exercise title at Nationals. She was also a member of the U.S. team that captured the gold medal at the Worlds this past fall.
