Texas Tech Basketball Schedule for 2012-13
The Texas Tech Lady Raiders basketball team represents Texas Tech University. This team competes in the Big 12 Conference, which is part of the NCAA Division I. This schedule features the dates and times of each game. The Lady Raiders’ next few games include the following: Dec. 17 – Host Kansas State; Dec. 31 – Face LSU and Texas Southern.
Texas Tech opens Big 12 season against Northwestern State
Northwestern State is another team that has a tough first game. Northwestern State was 11-9 last season and was a team that went 15-15 overall. The team has a solid backcourt. The three leaders in assists per game are Brian White (3.7), Tyree Smith (3.7) and Jamaure Gregg (8.1). Northwestern State is led by a veteran squad in the coaching staff of Mike McConathy, who has 647 wins in 36 seasons.
Hosts Kansas State on Dec. 17
Texas Tech is 4-6 overall and must win out to get into a bowl game. Otherwise, it will fall back below. That would mean that new coach Matt Wells would be under.
Faces LSU on Dec. 30
The LSU Tigers face off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Dec. 30 in a Big 12/SEC Challenge matchup. LSU is coming off a tough loss in the NCAA title game against Virginia. The upcoming game features Texas Tech junior guard Mac McClung against LSU freshman Cam Thomas. Both players played high school basketball in Virginia.
Meets Texas Southern on Dec. 31
Texas Tech’s upcoming Big 12 schedule starts and ends with two games against Oklahoma State. Both games were originally scheduled for Dec. 31 but have been rescheduled for Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Oklahoma State has won both meetings with Texas Tech, improving its all-time record to 47-23. Tech has a 15-11 all-time record in Lubbock.
Meets Georgetown on Dec. 31
The Georgetown Hoyas are on the schedule for Dec. 31, so a win by the home team would be big for the Red Raiders. The Hoyas have defeated Tech twice in program history, but never in the regular season. Last season, Tech went 27-10 and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 before losing to Duke in the West Region semifinals.
Meets Louisiana Tech on Dec. 31
The men’s basketball schedule for the 2012-13 season is set. The Tigers will play two exhibition games against Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas before their first regular-season game against Texas A&M on Nov. 9. After Thanksgiving, they will host two other regional opponents: UL-Monroe and Southeastern Louisiana.
Meets Jackson State on Dec. 31
On Dec. 31, Tech will travel to Texas Southern University to face Jackson State in a non-conference game. This game is a rematch of the 2011-12 season. The teams are 1-1 all-time. Tech won its last meeting 84-75 in November 2012. Jackson State finished last season with an 11-19 overall record and a 9-9 record in the SWAC. They lost to Texas Southern in the SWAC Tournament. The game is slated to tip off at 7 p.m.
Meets TCU on Dec. 31
The Texas Tech basketball schedule begins Dec. 31 with a game against TCU. The Red Raiders have won the last 22 meetings between the two schools, including an 89-74 victory last season. The Red Raiders have won eighty-seven percent of their games at home and are 50-10 all-time against TCU. TCU is led by head coach Jaime Dixon, who has been at TCU for six seasons after spending thirteen years at Pittsburgh.
